Professional Ranch Gate Installation
Colorado Ranch Gates Built to Open, Close, and Last
You use your gates every single day. A gate that sags, sticks, or will not latch properly turns a simple task into a daily frustration. Multiply that across every gate on your property and it adds up fast.
My name's Dylan. I run Alpine Earthworks, and my team and I install ranch gates that open smoothly, close securely, latch every time, and stay that way season after season. We use commercial-grade hardware, set gate posts deep with proper bracing, and hang gates that are level from day one.
Gate Types We Install
- Tube gates - standard ranch gates in a range of sizes for pasture and corral access.
- Pipe gates - heavy-duty construction for high-traffic and equipment access.
- Wire gates - economical options for low-traffic fence line openings.
- Sliding gates - space-efficient solutions for corrals and tight areas.
- Double and wide-span gates - equipment and vehicle access through fence lines.
- Cattle guards - vehicle passage without gates for high-traffic crossings.

Gate Posts Are More Important Than You May Realize
A gate is only as good as the posts holding it. Gate posts carry more weight and take more stress than any other post in your fence line. We set gate posts deeper, use larger diameter posts, and brace them properly because we know what happens when this step is shortchanged.
The gate sags within a year and never works right again. Getting the posts right the first time is the difference between a gate you use for decades and a gate you fight with every day.
Hardware and Construction Built to Last
Gates fail at the small details long before they fail at the panel itself. We build every gate with longevity in mind, from the hardware to the hanging.
- Heavy-duty hinges - Commercial-grade hardware rated for the weight and daily use of a ranch gate.
- Positive-latching closures - Latches that catch every time, even when swung hard in the wind.
- Deep-set, oversized gate posts - Sized and buried to resist the leverage forces that sag standard posts.
- Diagonal bracing - Proper H-brace or diagonal brace construction on every gate post.
- Level hanging from day one - Gates set true so they swing free for years, not months.

Common Questions About Ranch Gates
How wide should a ranch gate be? Pasture gates for livestock are typically twelve to sixteen feet. Equipment access gates need to be sixteen to twenty feet or wider depending on your machinery. We size gates based on what needs to pass through them.
Why do ranch gates sag over time? Almost always, it is the gate posts. Posts that are too shallow, too small diameter, or not properly braced cannot support the weight of the gate over time. We build gate posts to handle the load so your gate stays straight.
Can you replace gates without redoing the whole fence? Yes, and it is one of our most common service calls. We can hang new gates on existing posts if they are solid, or replace the posts and gate together for a complete solution.
Do you install automatic gate openers? Yes. Solar-powered automatic gate openers work well for ranch entries and driveways out here. They save you from getting out of the truck in every weather condition. We can install openers on new or existing gates.
What about cattle guards instead of gates? Cattle guards are excellent for high-traffic crossings where opening and closing a gate is impractical. They require proper installation with concrete footings and appropriate sizing for the vehicles crossing them. We install cattle guards that meet load requirements and keep livestock contained.
