Livestock Fence Installation Services

Colorado Livestock Fencing Built for the Animals Behind It

Every type of livestock tests fencing differently. Cattle use weight and persistence. Goats find every gap and exploit it. Sheep push through what they can and squeeze under what they cannot push. Llamas and alpacas have their own set of behaviors. The fence you need depends on the animals you are keeping.

I'm Dylan with Alpine Earthworks. My team and I install livestock fencing tailored to your specific animals and operation. We do not use a one-size-fits-all approach because that does not exist in livestock containment.

Livestock Fencing Options

  • Woven wire field fence - versatile containment for cattle, sheep, and goats.
  • High-tensile smooth wire - economical perimeter fencing for large pastures.
  • Barbed wire - proven cattle containment for range fencing.
  • Electric fence - effective training and rotational grazing systems.
  • Combination systems - mixing fence types for different areas and purposes.

Give me a call at 720-272-7760 or fill out the form below. Tell me what you are containing and we will build the right fence.

Why Livestock Fencing Has to Match the Operation

Your perimeter fence, your cross-fencing, and your working areas all have different requirements. We help you plan a fencing strategy that addresses each area appropriately. Heavy-duty construction where animals concentrate. Economical solutions where you are covering long distances. And gates in the right locations to make your daily operations efficient.

The goal is not just a fence. It is a containment system that works with how you run your operation, day in and day out.

Matching the Fence to Your Livestock

Every species tests a fence differently, and we design around the animals you run.

  • Cattle - Four to five feet tall, built to handle leaning and pushing at feed lines and corners.
  • Goats - Small-mesh woven wire with electric deterrent up top to stop the climbers and squeezers.
  • Sheep - Woven wire sized to prevent heads and horns from getting stuck.
  • Horses and livestock together - Materials chosen to avoid hazards for the most vulnerable species in the mix.
  • Mixed and rotating herds - Fence built to the specs of the most challenging animal in the group.

Serving Colorado Livestock Operations

Whether it is a small hobby farm along the Front Range, a working cattle spread on the Eastern Plains, or a mixed operation up in the foothills, my team and I install livestock fencing built for your animals and your terrain. We know what holds up in our soil, our wind, and our winters.

Common Questions About Livestock Fencing

What fence keeps goats in? Goats are the escape artists of the livestock world. Woven wire at least four feet tall with small mesh openings at the bottom works best. Adding a strand of electric at the top discourages climbing. We have built plenty of goat-proof fencing and know the tricks.

How high does livestock fencing need to be? Cattle typically need four to five feet. Goats need at least four feet, preferably with electric deterrent. Sheep can work with four feet of woven wire. We size the fence to your animals and adjust based on any known behavior issues.

Can livestock fencing be moved for rotational grazing? Permanent cross-fencing and temporary electric fencing both work for rotational grazing. The right choice depends on how often you rotate and how many animals you are managing. We can set up either system or a combination of both.

What about fencing for mixed livestock? Mixed herds require the fence to contain the most challenging animal in the group. If you run cattle and goats together, the fence needs to meet goat specifications. We design for the worst-case scenario so nothing gets out.

How do you handle fence in areas with water crossings? Creek and drainage crossings require special attention. We use flood-resistant designs that allow water to flow through while maintaining containment. These areas need periodic checking after high water events, but a well-designed crossing holds up to normal conditions.
